Hans Zimmer (ft.The Reverb Junkie) – Angelica [Part of the Plan] (Odd Year Edit)

Posted in MP3 on May 16th, 2011 by davidaarong – Be the first to comment

If you like Gotan Project or the Cafe Del Mar series of chillout music with International flavor, then this track will be a win for you. The track makes use of stems from the soundtrack written and produced by Hans Zimmer from the movie: Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Also features Rodrigo y Gabriela on acoustic guitars. With this mix, The Reverb Junkie made an incredible arrangement and went one step further by writing her song on-top of it. From which I took the track and added all the percussive elements, hence the “Odd Year Edit” on the track name.

Paul Simon – Love is Eternal Sacred Light (Odd Year Remix)

Posted in MP3, News on April 15th, 2011 by davidaarong – Be the first to comment

I just completed this remix and thought it fit for sharing.  Over at indabamusic, they have the stems available for Paul Simon’s latest release, Love is Eternal Sacred Light, from which I grabbed the vocals tracks and left the rest to create this upbeat, dance floor friendly version.  As soon as I heard his vocals for this track, I could hear the remix I could work around them with.  I love the sound of Paul Simon’s voice set against an electronic backing track and push forward.  See what you all think…

New Remix of “Never Saw It Coming”

Posted in News on March 2nd, 2011 by davidaarong – Be the first to comment

Just got handed this remix by Escape from LA of the track I did under my “Drop and Solo” moniker.  It’s a well done electro house take from my original!

Bio: ———-ESCAPE FROM LA———-

Escape From LA was created on March 1, 2010 in Atlanta, Georgia after solo American DJ’s/Producer’s, DJ Kai Street and DJ Blaine Costello, decided to bring both of their styles and ideas to the music world. Many of their influences such as, Daft Punk, The Bloody Beetroots, Justice, MSTRKRFT, and Pendulum, gave birth to their style of music, which includes: house, electro, dance, and electronica.

Two new Odd Year remixes

Posted in MP3, News on December 6th, 2010 by davidaarong – Be the first to comment

I know it’s been a bit quite on the Odd Year front as of late, but I just finished up two remixes you can now listen to on soundcloud.  I did them both for Color Theory‘s new remix ep titled, The Silence.

Backseat:

I fell in love with Backseat off of Color Theory’s latest release, The Sound and when the opportunity arose to remix it, I couldn’t resist.  This track has the classic depeche mode melancholy to which I wanted to do a more “widescreen” edition of.  Hence the rain and thunder efx on the track.

Song Named After A Girl:

The single off the album and a track I approach with a more “bare-bones” mentality.  This was done mostly with the bassline that runs throughout and minimal synths except for the chorus sections.  I am not a fan of the typical remix, i.e., just speed up the vocals or only use a snippet of vocals and then slam a house beat underneath.  I usually take the approach of re-visioning it and asking myself what I would do if I had Brian in the studio to record a new track.  I like the stark contrast of a deep bass with Brian’s voice and really wanted to highlight the melody he wrote for the chorus.  Hope you all enjoy.

The Silence EP from Color Theory now available for pre-order

Posted in News on November 18th, 2010 by davidaarong – 1 Comment

Just finished a remix of a Color Theory track for Brian Hazard. You can preview his Remix EP called The Silence here. On it you’ll find a collaboration I did with Brian called, “Waiting In The Wings” and the new remix, “Backseat (Odd Year Remix)”.

I fell in love with this track, so it was treat to lend my hand on it and give  it an “Odd Year” spin. The other stand out track for me was Extroverts at Play, which gets a proper remix called, “Rename 7″ Introversion”.
